Cloud GPU

Some jobs need far more GPU than a home server has. Cloud GPU runs them on rented hardware and sends the result back to your server. Your own computers stay the default, and nothing goes to the cloud without asking.

Job What it does
Descriptions and tags Writes descriptions, tags and video moment captions for search, with larger models than fit at home. You can describe your existing library, and optionally new uploads as they arrive
Enhance Upscales photos 2× or 4×, with an optional face pass
Video restoration Restores old or damaged video, Faithful or Creative, with a 5-second preview first
Transcription and captions Turns speech into text, with captions as VTT or SRT files
Voice-over Reads text aloud, in English
Smooth motion Adds in-between frames to video, 2× or 4×, up to 120 fps, using RIFE

Some limits:

  • Enhance: photos up to 64 MP and 100 MB. The result is never larger than 64 MP, so a 12 MP photo asked for 4× gets 2×.
  • Video restoration: 1×, 1.5× or 2×, up to 4K (3840×2160), one clip up to 2 GiB. The preview is billed like a small job.
  • Transcription: up to 4 hours per file and 50 files per job.
  • Long jobs stop after 6 hours, and you pay only for what ran.
  • Faces. Face recognition never runs on Frameleaf Cloud.
  • Search and text recognition. They always stay on your network.
  • Studio exports. Final video renders run on your server or a computer at home.

Cloud GPU never receives your original file. It gets a copy made by your server with location and camera metadata removed:

  • Descriptions: a preview of at most 1,600 pixels on the long edge. No text from your server, such as names you’ve given people, is added to the request.
  • Enhance: a full-resolution copy, because upscaling needs every pixel. Location and camera metadata are still removed.
  • Video: clips with metadata removed. The sound is never sent; it’s taken off before upload and put back on your server.

Jobs run in your account’s region, and the files never leave it. They’re deleted as soon as the job finishes, and within 24 hours at most. Nothing you send is used to train models, and nobody at Frameleaf looks at it.

An administrator sets up Cloud GPU in the Command Center under Frameleaf Cloud, then Cloud processing:

  1. Turn on Frameleaf Cloud as a processing destination.
  2. Read and accept the processing terms. If the terms change, you’re asked again.
  3. Choose who can spend. Administrators can always confirm cloud jobs. Others can only if an administrator allows them, each with an optional monthly limit. Everyone else sees estimates only.

Two optional features are off by default, and you can turn them on separately:

  • Allow names written in photos, such as a name on a badge or a caption. This never uses face recognition, and the names you give people in Frameleaf are never sent.
  • Describe health and medical details.

If you withdraw or narrow consent after a job has been accepted, the narrower consent applies. If a job can no longer run, it doesn’t, and you aren’t charged. The account owner can also see and withdraw a server’s consent on the account site under Privacy.

Describe new photos automatically is off by default. When on, it has a daily budget, $2 by default, which counts toward your wallet’s daily limit.

Each kind of job has a slider from lighter to heavier models. The colour of each stop tells you where it can run:

  • White: runs on your server’s processor
  • Green: fits your GPU
  • Blue: runs only on Frameleaf Cloud

You can choose a different model for any single job. Models whose licence forbids hosted commercial use are never offered in the cloud. See Workers and where jobs run.

Cloud GPU is paid from a prepaid AI Wallet balance in US dollars. There’s no subscription quota, and no discount applies to AI credit or GPU time.

You pay for the GPU time a job actually uses, per second, at the rate for the kind of GPU it needs, plus a start fee each time a GPU worker starts for it. Time is counted from when the model is ready, not from when the machine starts.

  1. Estimate. Before you confirm, every job shows its model and a cost range, such as “Likely $X, at most about $Y”. An estimate is valid for 15 minutes.
  2. Hold. When you confirm, an amount based on the top of the range, plus start fees, is held from your balance.
  3. Run. If a job gets close to its hold, it’s extended once by 25% from your free balance. A small margin above the hold is absorbed by Frameleaf and never charged. Beyond that the job stops at the next safe point, and anything already finished is delivered.
  4. Settle. When the job ends you pay what it actually used, at least one start fee, and the rest of the hold is released straight away.

Every job also shows its cost against the estimate under Recent cloud jobs on your server.

  • If Frameleaf or the GPU provider fails, you aren’t charged, start fees included.
  • If you cancel, or the input is invalid, you pay for what was used, at least one start fee.
  • If every input is refused, the whole hold is released.

Nothing falls back to the cloud on its own. If Frameleaf Cloud is down, the job doesn’t run and nothing is sent anywhere else.

  • Top up from $20, up to $500 at a time, with quick choices of $25, $50 and $100.
  • Payment happens on frameleaf.cloud in a new tab, by card, or Apple Pay or Google Pay where available. Credit appears on your server as soon as it clears.
  • No credit is included with a plan.

Optionally, when your free balance drops below a threshold you set, your saved card is charged an amount you choose ($20 or more), up to a monthly limit you set. Every automatic charge is emailed to you. Setting it up asks you to confirm with your passkey.

You also get a low-balance email, at most once a day, when your free balance falls below $5 or 20% of your last top-up, whichever is more.

Limit Default
Daily spending $20 a day. Raise it up to $200 a day (accounts under 90 days old) or $1,000. Lowering it is instant; raising it asks you to confirm with your passkey. Jobs over the limit are refused
Jobs at once 2 per account. New accounts may get fewer for their first 7 days
  • Monthly statements as CSV and PDF, exact to the micro-dollar.
  • Your job history on the account site shows when each job ran and what it cost, never its inputs or results.
  • Unused balance can be refunded on request, minus the card processing fee.
