Restoration
Restoration improves old, small or damaged videos. Open the Restore panel from the photo viewer or from Studio. A restoration is always saved as a new version; the original file is never changed.
Choose a mode
Section titled “Choose a mode”| Mode | What it does |
|---|---|
| Faithful | Removes noise and compression while keeping the original look |
| Creative | Rebuilds fine detail and may invent texture. Best for very small sources |
| Smooth motion | Adds in-between frames for slow motion or a higher frame rate. Works on videos, from the original. See Titles and motion |
Then choose:
- Size: same size or larger. The result is never bigger than 4K (3840 × 2160). Cloud GPU restores at up to 2×.
- Keep film grain to preserve fine grain instead of smoothing it.
Choose where it runs
Section titled “Choose where it runs”Nothing is processed until you choose a destination. Each one says whether your video stays on your network or leaves your network for this job.
Estimates come from real runs on that destination. If nothing has run there yet, it says Not measured yet. A job never switches destination on its own.
On Cloud GPU you see an estimate and confirm before anything is sent, and the sound is never sent. See Cloud GPU.
Preview first
Section titled “Preview first”- Choose a small area: the current frame, or a crop. The preview is 5 seconds long.
- Compare before and after with a split divider and a 100% loupe.
- Accept to restore the whole file at full resolution with the same settings, or reject it and try again.
Previews you haven’t reviewed are kept for 14 days, and for 7 days after you decide.
Use the restored version
Section titled “Use the restored version”A restored video appears as a version of the original. You can:
- use it for playback, or go back to the original
- download it, or discard it
- choose Use in Studio to add it to a project beside its original
